Beginner Gardens for the Busy Gardener
If you are considering growing your first garden this summer, but are concerned about having enough time to garden, perhaps you might begin by growing a “no fuss” garden. Now let me be clear, by “no fuss” I don’t mean zero work - but there are certain types of gardens that require minimal effort and produce a nice crop at the end of the season.
If you’re stressed out about the time and effort it may take to grow a garden, consider a few thoughts: over-watering can actually be worse than missing a few days of watering here and there, simple mulches do a great job of minimizing weeds, and if you do get a few weeds….rarely do a few weeds ruin a healthy garden.
So here are a few easy to grow crops that usually succeed with out an overabundance of effort: Tomatoes, Carrots, Corn, Zucchini (this stuff seems to grow and produce whether you want it to or not), Cucumbers and Peppers. Now tell me you don’t have a recipe or two where these vegetables wouldn’t make a big difference in!
